Define who your funnel is for, then turn the answers into your headline and your qualifying questions. A funnel with well written questions still struggles if it is shown to the wrong people. Your target audience is the group of people who have the problem your business solves. This page helps you define your audience first, then shows where each answer goes in AskFunnel. Before you start, you need:
  • An AskFunnel account and workspace, to build the funnel in the second half of this page. The three questions work without one. See Create your account.

Answer three questions

1. What specific problem do you solve?

Do not try to speak to everyone. Name the exact problem your offer fixes.
  • Too broad: “I offer fitness coaching.”
  • Specific: “I help busy office professionals lose weight without going to a gym.”
  • Real estate example: “I help first time buyers in Austin find a home under $400,000 without overpaying.”

2. Who is your ideal buyer?

Picture your best customer, the one who pays on time and values your service. Write down:
  • Age and life stage: Are they students, young professionals or retirees?
  • Location: Do you serve one city, or people anywhere?
  • Interests and habits: What do they follow and read? A luxury property buyer might follow investment pages. A solar prospect might be worried about rising electricity bills.

3. What keeps them up at night?

Your headline must speak to their biggest frustration. Write it the way they would say it.
  • For people worried about electricity costs, start with a question such as “How much is your monthly electricity bill?”
  • For busy parents, ask “How many hours a week can you realistically spend on meal prep?”

Turn your answers into a funnel

1

Start with AI, or start blank

  1. Click “Create Funnel” on the Funnels page, then “Generate with AI”.
  2. Choose a funnel format: Full funnel (landing page, quiz and contact form), Landing page and form, or Quiz and form.
  3. Where should AI start? Choose Business website and enter your website, or No website and enter your business name and industry.
  4. What is the main goal? Choose the closest match, such as Book appointments, Request quotes or Capture leads.
  5. Click “Build funnel”. A build uses 50 AI credits.
There is no box to describe your audience, so pick the industry and goal closest to your buyer, then edit the headline and questions to match what you wrote above. To start from a blank page instead, see Launch your first funnel.
2

Write a headline for their frustration

Replace the headline with the problem from question 3. Use a Hero section from Content, then Sections, and type your headline in it. See Add and arrange blocks.
3

Ask questions that sort the right people from the wrong ones

Add quiz questions that match your ideal buyer, for example their budget, timeline, location or what they want most. Each answer should separate a good fit from a poor fit. See Build quiz questions.
4

Rank your leads

Give points to the answers that signal a good fit, and leads are sorted into Cold, Warm and Hot. You can also send poor fits to a different result screen. See Set up lead scoring.
5

Send the right traffic

Share your link where your ideal buyer spends time, and add a UTM tag (a short label added to your link that shows where visitors came from) for each place so you can see what works. See Find and share your funnel link and Funnel analytics.
If you serve two different groups, build two funnels. Start with one specific group, build the funnel around their exact needs, and compare your results before you add another.
